My middle 250w MH bulb on the 135g tank exploded yesterday.

Well I notice it yesterday afternoon when all three lights should have been on. I reviewed the 135g tank and notice the middle bulb was not on. Strange so I first thought the timer was bad and after removing the timer I then turned to a bad ballast. Why a bad ballast first and not a bad bulb I don't know. Well plugging the bulb into a different ballast had the same result, no light. 

I lifted the hood up and went to remove the bulb and found the entire rim near the base was broken. I replaced it with a spare bulb I had laying around and everything is bad to normal.

Strange, I never had a bulb break like that before.

nope, I don't think so. It was the middle bulb and that area is covered by I large piece of glass in the mddle of the tank. The center brace is about 8" wide and directly covering the tank where the bulb is at.

could be just a bad bulb, have had a few that won't even light out of the box.

that's what I was thinking, so far no more booms!
