I have a 20gal nano tank running and have been doing 2gal water changes every week. Tank is doing fine but my question is would it do better if I increase the amount of water during the changes, say to 5gallons. 

I have a friend that has a 29gal tank and he does 10gal water changes every week.

On my 20gal Nano I have yet to do a water change in the past 4 months. Just add Kalk water that is required from evaporation and then in some Kent supplements.

I would recommended only doing 10% water changes every week. Make certain the new water is at the correct SG and temp before adding it to your tank.

I do a 20% water change every month. If I get lazy I'll do a 5% every week so it averages out to 20% per month.

Very little compared to others but I do keep my top covered.

i do 5gallons every week on my 75gallon tank.

 never done a water change in the last two years.

 I have complete a mass water change on the 135g about 2 weeks ago. Over 2 weeks I changed 60g of water. Everything is looking very healthy.
