    Drip acclimation

I have been working on a cheap auto acclimation system and should be running my first tests this weekend. If it works I will be able to set-up kits or supply directions to build. Should be about 30-50 bucks complete for someone to build if it works. I will share photos and instructions if people are interested. I have grown tired of having to set up my syphin and tie the knots so i get the drip rate just right. This new set-up should take all the messy guess work out.

What does everyone else do for acclimation purposes?

I have placed 3 photos of my system, can some one please post them here. How do I post them here the insert photo option has errors

It sounds good Castro. Thanks for sharing YesI do acclimation by normally just floating the bad of corals/fish for about 20min until the temp are correct. Once the temps are about right and normally just dump in the Coral or Fish into the tank. Pretty simple. I have heard that you need to acclimate inverts longer like for 3 hours using the drip method. The inverts get the same 20min wait time and they also go in the tank.

When I first started out in the hobby, I was pretty long on the acclimation doing everything for 2 or 3 hours before putting it in the tank. The method I used was basically the same way I drop kalk and that is by using airline tubing and an airline valve.

I let the bag float for 1/2 hour (with the lights off) and start slowing adding in water into the bag. Over 2 hours or so I'll use a net to add the fish into the tank. If it's a piece of coral, my acclimation period is the same but I just grab the coral with my hand and place it into the tank.

float the bag for 1/2 hour and the coral/fish goes in. only care about temp being equal, everything else really doesn't matter to me.
