    135g tank coming soon!

I'm hoping to pick-up a 135gal tank this weekend. I'll put it in the basement and slowy set it up over the next few months. It will be the biggest tank that I have owned. Pictures posted when I get it.

Can't wait until you get it. It sounds like a good deal.

What are your plans for it like lighting, sump and such?

It's all set, I called the person last night and they have it all cleaned up and ready to go. Picking it up this weekend is looking good. Hopefully I can get my friends truck to haul the tank back.

Now I just need to remember to bring my camera. Big Smile

Well, the 135gallon is home and it's now sitting in my garage. Need to plan what I'll do with it and also get the lighting for it.

    Thanks Debbie! Yes

I got about 1/2 of the tank cleaned down this evening. I'll spend the week cleaning the rest if the weather permits me working in the garage. Already getting the equipment list together for the tank (lights/ pumps/ sump) and praying for warmer weather to work on it.

Plan on using 3 MH lights w/T5 actinics. Don't know if I'll go with 2 x 250watt and 1 x 400watt MH or just use 3 x 250watt MH. Still thinking if the 400 watt MH would be worth the extra cost of purchase and also the extra cost of running it.

The sump I either plan on building a 55gal sump or just pick-up a 100g plastic container that I can use for the sump. Where I plan on putting the 135g in the basement, directly behind the tank will be a space where I can place the 100g plastic container under the staircase coming down into the basement.

    Hey Rodney,

Glad to see all is well after the ride. Sorry I wasn't any help in the moving.

I wish I would have tried to clean some more of the coralline off, now that it is in better light YIKES. It sounds like you have the right equiment for the job. I hope you enjoy the tank as much as I did...Oceanic is a good brand.

If you use the Tunze I gave you on the opposite side of your return flow and dial one medium and the other alittle higher, you will get the perfect wave motion for your corals. It is a great powerhead and with the magnet you won't have to worry about it falling off

I look foward to your progress.

    Hi Debbie,

The ride went very well, my buddy was driving like an old man so I wasn't worred about the drive back home. That tank is so much heavy then what I thought and maybe the reason why it's still sitting in my garage and not in my basement.

Don't worry about not getting more of the coralline off, it's coming over really well using my method. Got about 3/4 of the tank cleaned up already and it should be all done by this weekend. I'll repaint the back of the tank and that is coming off very easy as well.

I'm really happy with the tank, thanks so much.

Here's a picture of it tonight. Only the center has some coralline remaining and on the left side I've already started taking off the back paint. It's shaping up really well.
