Sounds like a cool project. Epoxy paint I've heard works but I would think it would be messy to work with so I would use the plastic liner. Make certain the plastic liner that you get is safe for reef aquarium enviroments which I am thinking that pool liner WOULD NOT be good to use. Keep us posted...
